The Unholy Prophets

Mon Mar 2, 2009, 6:58 PM
The Unholy Prophets

Come and gather around the flame
to hear a tale of suffering and pain.
One of three witches and their great plan
for an unknowing kingdom and its head man.

They spoke of events that were yet to be
events that no one could possibly see.
“All hail Macbeth, that shalt be hereafter”
which normally would bring much laughter.

But in Macbeth their seed was shown
which his lady then did help grow.
An evil plan to kill the king
and upon which they’d risk everything.

And trusting all on whatever fats-may be
Macbeth would say “The bell invites me.
Hear it not Duncan for it is a knell
that summans thee to heaven , as to hell.”

The queen witch, her anger not spared
Hecate asked “how did you dare,
To trade and traffic with Macbeth
in riddles and affairs of death.”

Thus finished, she flew away
leaving the witches to rue the day.
They interfered in affairs of man
and set Macbeth upon his plan

“Double, double, toil and trouble
fire burn and cauldron bubble.”
The witches continued to build their scheme
to make good on their evil dream.

“By the pricking of my thumbs
something evil this way comes.”
And Macbeth returned to seek their skills
to protect him from all earthly ills.

They called ghosts, with questions bold
but received riddles from the spirits old
Macbeth drew strength from their replies
And felt courage flow in as his fear died

“Macbeth shall never vanquished be, until
Great Birnam Wood to high Dunsinane hill
Shall come against.” Seemed to confirm his cue
But he forgot that spirits words might hide their true

I ask, in the end what did they gain
neither man nor lady did remain sane.
Haunted by the ghost’s of the past
the dream would not last

In the end who is to be blamed
who shall we point to, too for shame?
The witches who let the seed be shown
or Macbeth who let it become fully grown.
